Life having taken yet another turn for the worse, I find myself in need of raising funds.
Fortunately (huh), I have accumulated tons of precious collectable items throughout the years, most notably related to rock, football, literature, design...
I am the kind of person who used to (still does, mind!) hang outside concert halls for hours before and after the gig, to get my records signed by the artists. This includes pretty much every "indie" / post-punk / new wave band that came to play in Lyon(s) in the late eighties. (Then I moved to the UK and Ireland for the next 28 years.)
In the'm days, records used to come out into something called vinyl in a big 30+ centimeter cardboard sleeve. They were well nice yeah.
I mean, we are looking at the historic Stranglers albums for example, whom I got the four members to sign. Yes, the "real Stranglers" -no disrespect to Baz. These I am now ready to part with, for 100 Pounds each.
Idem with (another all-time favourite of mine) the Cocteau Twins: I have a couple of their legendary early albums signed by Liz and Robin. Once again, for 100 Pounds. Hey, these are all-time great albums, and signed by these beloved geniuses.
Incidentally, both bands signed when they came to play la Bourse du Travail (to be precise).
I also have in my archives the 7 inch of "This Is Not A Love Song" (still obtained outside the Bourse du Travail) signed by "John Lydon" AND "Johnny Rotten". Wow.
...Need to dig it out of my cellar, though. I think John McGeosh also signed.
Other names include Psychedelic Furs, The Cult, personal favourite Nick Cave, Bauhaus, PWEI, Carter USM, the Cramps!!!!! (their last ever London gig), Gallon Drunk, Young Gods, Melt Banana (used to follow them), Nada Surf, Wire, Polica, Lambchop, Smog and Sparklehorse (huge heroes of mine), Mega City Four, Peter Hook, the Wedding Present, the Damned, Echo and the Bunnymen, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Cranes, Bleach, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, Bob Mould, Elvis Costello, Christian Death, Interpol, etc.
I also have Sonic Youth "Daydream Nation" with its signed poster,
the Cramps live "Smell Of Female" in coloured seven inches,
a very weird t-shirt of Peter Hook calling on New Order to get back in touch limited to 200 worldwide (60 pounds),
autographs by Irene Jacob and Juliette Lewis who both performed in London theatres,
a poster informing the audience that bars would be closed during the Smog gig,
"and many others".
Once came across Marco van Basten but didn't have any pen or paper about my person (I was jogging in an Amsterdam park).
Then I have quite a few things related to cinema, football (I worked at Old Trafford), and -being first and foremost a literary person- literature. I loooooooooove books, me; love the paper format (prints, posters, and so on). Got a degree in Librarianship, as a matter of fact.
I intend to put them up for sale on Ebay but if anyone wants to make me an offer, here is your chance. My email contact is l*ig7san "at" gmail.com.
